Margaret “Midge” Kirk

Midge loves libraries, especially the Mancos Public Library! It was the first place she stopped when coming into town from New England in 1999. She says it has been an amazing journey to watch it grow from the little library on the corner to what it is today. It is a delight to see the children who have also grown and come back as adults. They light up her life. Midge really enjoys assisting patrons and sometimes recommending a read, or they recommend one to her. Her co-workers make the place feel like “family.” She really loves it when she can help a patron find something, accomplish something, solve a problem, or just share the love of reading! It makes her heart happy.
Aside from the library her big loves are family, friends, her dogs, and almost anything outdoors, music, art, and reading of course! She enjoys learning new things. She has an MA from Goddard College in Feminism and Social Justice. Midge wrote two books about extraordinary women – They Persisted and They Roared – that she loves to share. She is thinking about a third book.
